Luis Jimenez

La Cabra Radio Show

Luis Jimenez en el estudio de La Cabra Radio Show

Luis Jimenez has been a central figure in Spanish-language radio in New York for more than three decades. His irreverent humor, characters and ability to turn audience stories into entertainment have taken him from the radio booth to television, film, live stages and digital media. He currently hosts La Cabra Radio Show with Dj Chucky, opening a new chapter in their creative collaboration.

Originally from Puerto Rico, Jimenez arrived in New York radio in 1993 and established his career as host of El Vacilón de la Mañana on La Mega 97.9 FM. Under his leadership, the show reached the top of New York’s morning ratings across languages, surpassing Howard Stern in audience measurements. That success made Spanish-language radio a major force in the market and Luis a leading voice for the Latino community.

With The Luis Jimenez Show on Univision Radio, he expanded his reach to major cities across the United States. Throughout his career, he has welcomed guests including Shakira, Juan Luis Guerra, Emilio Estefan and Andy García, with an interview style shaped by spontaneity and humor. His involvement in Latino culture also included helping promote some of New York’s earliest reggaetón concerts. In 2003, he was named Padrino of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade.

The comedy created by Luis and his teams found audiences beyond radio. Pranks such as Manolo Cabeza de Huevo and songs such as Herculito circulated internationally, while recordings including Tortilla Party, Vacilón 69, Chant for Neta and the soundtrack to El Vacilón: The Movie brought that world into other formats. Tortilla Party received a Billboard Latin Music Awards nomination.

On television, he hosted Sábado 47, produced and hosted Weepa! on Telemundo 47, and produced a Saturday comedy and variety show on Univision 41. His voice-over work includes HBO Latino, National Geographic and Telemundo. In film, he wrote and starred in El Vacilón: The Movie and appeared in Feliz Navidad alongside Giselle Blondet.

His stage work combines stand-up, sketches, characters and musical parodies. He has performed at Carolines on Broadway, The Comedy Garden at Madison Square Garden, the New York Comedy Festival and House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, with sold-out shows on various occasions. His live comedy projects include Sin Cortina.

In 2015, he launched Luis Network, continuing his work through an independent digital platform. Today, on La Cabra Radio Show, that experience comes alive alongside Dj Chucky through songs, conversations and characters created in the moment. A story from the chat, an unexpected news item or a spontaneous idea can become the show’s next memorable moment.
